Safer
To get into the courtyard of our building, we walk through an archway. At the entrance and exit, we frequently noticed shattered tiles, which had fallen from the building above. This is a view of our building from our bedroom window -- note the missing tiles:

"thankful" is an understatement. if we were to get hit in the head by one of those tiles, we wouldn't even be around to be thankful. if i knew which well-minded citizen thought this up (since it surely wasn't a government project), i'd give them a bag of money.
